GERMÁN + MARJORIE

A family story carried forward through leather, memory and design.

AMBATO // ECUADOR

BEFORE MARJORIE, THERE WAS THE CRAFT.

The story begins in Ambato, Ecuador, where footwear was already part of the Llerena family language. Gerardo Llerena worked in shoemaking beginning in 1968, establishing a foundation of craftsmanship, construction and leather work that would continue through the family.

The knowledge was not merely about producing an object. It was about understanding the relationship between material, hand, structure and the person who would eventually wear the shoe.

GERMÁN LLERENA.

In 1992, Germán Llerena carried that footwear tradition into his own era, blending the knowledge inherited from the generation before him with the energy and style of the early 1990s.

His work represents an important bridge inside the MARJORIE story — between traditional Ecuadorian shoemaking and a younger, more expressive fashion identity.

A SHOE BECOMES A MEMORY.

MARJORIE is named for more than a design reference. The name represents the human side of the legacy — Germán Llerena and Marjorie, and the connection between footwear, family and memory.

In this story, the shoe becomes symbolic: something designed by hand, carried from one person to another, and preserved beyond the moment in which it was made.

WHY THE NAME MARJORIE REMAINS.

The modern MARJORIE collection does not attempt to recreate the past exactly. Instead, it carries its emotional architecture forward.

Leather, suede, sculpted heels, elongated forms, square toes, pointed silhouettes and hardware become a new vocabulary built on top of an older foundation.

The result is not nostalgia. It is continuation.

THE MEMORY HAS A PLACE.

The Llerena footwear legacy is also connected to Casa de la Redonda – Calzado Llerena, preserving the history of the family's relationship with shoemaking in Ambato.

MARJORIE carries that lineage into GSX not as a museum object, but as a living design language capable of evolving again.

THE LEGACY IS STILL MOVING.

MARJORIE exists inside the GSX Universe as the meeting point between family history and the future — footwear built from memory, reconstructed for the next timeline.
